Home Remedy for Cough

Home Remedy for Cough

Productive cough due to congestion and bronchitis. Below are some old fashioned cough remedies.

Water and Other Treatments

  1.     Fomentation on the chest and back.
  2.     Steam inhalation.

Cough Remedies using Herbal Treatment

 

Lagundi leaves ( english: Five leaved Chaste tree) 
  • Boil 4 tablespoons of chopped dried leaves or 6 tablespoons of chopped fresh leaves in 2 glasses of water for 15 minutes.
            Dosage:

            Adults: 1/2 cup, 3 times a day
            Children: (Babies) 1 tablespoon, 3 times a day
            (2-6 yrs.) 2 tablesppon, 3 times a day
            (7-12 yrs.) 1/4 cup, 3 times a day
 

Oregano leaves ( Scientific name: Coleus aromaticus Benth) 
  • Boil 1 cup of chopped fresh leaves in 2 glasses of water for 15 minutes.
            Dosage:

            Adults: 1/2 cup, 3 times a day
            Children: (Babies) 1 tablespoon, 3 times a day
            (2-6 yrs.) 2 tablesppon, 3 times a day
            (7-12 yrs.) 1/4 cup, 3 times a day
 

Mansanilya leaves or flowers ( english: Indian chrysanthemum)
  • Boil 1 cup of chopped dried leaves and flowers or 1-1/2 cups of fresh leaves and flowers in 2 glasses of water for 15 minutes.
            Dosage:

            Adults: 1/2 cup, every 4 hours
            Children: (Babies) 1 tablespoon, 4 hours
            (2-6 yrs.) 2 tablesppon, 4 hours
            (7-12 yrs.) 1/4 cup, 4 hours
 

Kantutay leaves and flowers ( english: Coronitas) 
  • Boil 1 cup of chopped fresh leaves and flowers in 2 glasses of water for 15 minutes.
            Dosage:

            Adults: 1/2 cup, 3 times a day
            Children: (Babies) 1 tablespoon, 3 times a day
            (2-6 yrs.) 2 tablesppon, 3 times a day
            (7-12 yrs.) 1/4 cup, 3 times a day
 

Alagaw leaves ( Scientific name: Premna Odorata Blanco)
  • Boil 1 cup of chopped fresh leaves in 2 glasses of water for 15 minutes. Drain and squeeze in 2 calamansi.Put 1 tablespoon sugar
            Dosage:

            Adults: 1/2 cup, every 4 hours
            Children: (Babies) 1 tablespoon, 4 hours
            (2-6 yrs.) 2 tablesppon, 4 hours
            (7-12 yrs.) 1/4 cup, 4 hours
